How to Review, Edit, or Delete Email Filters in Gmail

Purpose: Review, edit, or delete email filters in Gmail
Notes: Email filters automatically organize incoming messages. Filters can move, delete, forward, archive, label, or otherwise process email messages as they arrive.
Periodically reviewing your Gmail filters can help ensure that your messages are being handled as expected.
Instructions:
Open the Gmail Filter Settings
Open Gmail in a web browser.
Select the Settings button.
Select See all settings.
Select the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
A list of any existing filters will be displayed.
Review Existing Filters
Review each filter in the list and confirm that you recognize it and understand what it does.
Pay particular attention to filters that:
Automatically delete messages
Skip the Inbox
Mark messages as read
Forward messages to another email address
Apply labels you do not recognize
If you find a filter that you do not recognize, delete it and contact the Help Desk if you have concerns about your account security.
Edit an Existing Filter
Locate the filter you want to modify.
Select Edit next to that filter.
Review or update the filter criteria.
Select Continue.
Review or update the actions that Gmail will perform.
Select Update filter to save your changes.
Delete an Existing Filter
Locate the filter you want to remove.
Select Delete next to the filter.
When prompted, confirm that you want to delete the filter.
The filter will be removed immediately.
Check for Email Forwarding
In addition to reviewing filters, verify that email forwarding has not been enabled without your knowledge.
Select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
Review the Forwarding section.
If email forwarding is enabled and you do not recognize the forwarding address, contact the Help Desk immediately.
When to Contact the Help Desk
Contact the Help Desk if you notice any of the following:
Filters that you did not create
Email forwarding addresses that you do not recognize
Messages unexpectedly disappearing from your Inbox
Messages being automatically deleted, archived, or forwarded without your knowledge
Any other unexpected changes to your Gmail settings
The Help Desk can help determine whether additional account security actions are needed.
