Requirements
In order to use the PC Interactive Mode feature of the Epson pens with your staff chromebook, there are a few setup requirements.
What You’ll Need
Your staff Chromebook
USB-B Cord directly connected to projector, with USB-A end to connect to Chromebook.
If you do not have this cord setup on your projector, please contact the Help Desk.
HDMI Dummy Plug
This device allows you to bypass limitations of ChromeOS and “extend” your display when wirelessly projecting (two separate screens).
This will also allow you to have the best performance with the Epson Pen’s touch input.
If you do not have a dummy plug, please contact the Help Desk.
Steps
Connect the USB cord from your projector to the Chromebook.
Insert your dummy plug into the Chromebook’s HDMI port.
Turn on your projector and ensure it is on the correct input for your Screenbeam.

When prompted for a screen to cast, choose the dummy plug’s “screen”.

Interactive Features
HDMI only sends video and audio—NOT touch input.
If you’re using an interactive flat panel, plugging in the Chromebook via HDMI will not allow pen or touch interaction.
To use interactive features:
Also connect a USB cable from the port under the whiteboard to the Chromebook
Tips
Works best in extended display mode for presentations.
All staff should have received a “dummy plug” that allows users to extend their screen while connected wirelessly to a ScreenBeam. If you did not receive a “dummy plug” or need a replacement, please contact the Help Desk.
Troubleshooting
Touch/pen not working?
Make sure the USB cable is plugged in from the Chromebook to the port under the whiteboard.
Try another cable.
Note: Projectors can only be wired to allow interactive pen function, either wired (MacBooks and Chromebooks) or wirelessly (PCs only).
If a classroom is shared by teachers with different devices, the default setup requires everyone to plug in using USB-B/A cables for wireless interactivity.
Input lag?
Move closer to the ScreenBeam.
Please note: pen-touch response times are not instantaneous, as they would be on a direct touch device.
Chromebook not responding?
Reboot Chromebook and try casting again.
