Purpose: The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how to use Pear Deck with Google Slides for interactive classroom presentations.


Summary: Pear Deck Slides is the quickest way to transform presentations into classroom conversations. Design beautiful slides and engage your class with interactive questions, discussion starters, formative assessments, checks-for-understanding, and exit tickets that get every single student actively thinking and participating. You can use the Pear Deck for Google Slides Add-on and instantly add formative assessments or interactive questions directly to your Google Slides.

Getting the Pear Deck Add-On

  1. The first step to use Pear Deck in Google Slides is to get the Pear Deck for Google Slides Add-on

    1. You can go straight to the add-on with this link, or get it from the Add-ons menu in Google Slides:

  2. Open a Google Slides file

  3. Log in to Google Drive and click New in the upper-left and then Google Slides

  4. Click the Add-ons Menu

  5. Click Get Add-ons

  6. Search for Pear Deck

  7. Click Install 

  8. Now when you open the Add-ons Menu, you'll see that Pear Deck is an Add-on you can use.

 


Create Questions

  • Now you can open the Sidebar to add Formative Assessments or Interactive Questions.

  • Simply click Add-ons

    • Select Pear Deck > Open Sidebar

  • Now you can drop in a template question from the Slide Library.

  • Create your own question using one of the six interactive question types:

    • Text

    • Number

    • Multiple Choice

    • Website

    • Drawing

    • Draggables

 


Present with Pear Deck

  • When your slides are made, it's important that you Present with Pear Deck.

  • If you present with Google Slides, the interactive elements will not function. 

  • Your Google Slides animations will not work in the Pear Deck presenter.
