Audience: Staff


Purpose: The purpose of this article is to show staff how to access and begin using the Software Center.


Summary: Software Center is the Windows program that is used to download software that is commonly used in the Iowa City Community School District.  Staff can download any available software they need from this program.

Downloading Programs

  1. Open the Software Center program on your PC by one of these ways:

    1. Select the icon from the taskbar 

    2. Click on the Windows icon in the bottom left corner and select Software Center from the right side pane

    3. Click on the Windows Search bar and type Software Center, and click on the Software Center application.

  2. Available programs will be listed in the Applications section of the program.  

 

 

 

  1. If you have just received your PC, it may take up to five days for Software Center to populate.

    1. It must be connected to the Secure Wi-Fi as well.

  2. Select the program you wish to install

  3. Click the Install button

  1. The program will then install.  When it is done, the button will change to “Uninstall

  1. Repeat for any other programs you’d like to install.


Navigating the Side Menu

 

Options

  • There are six different options on the side menu:

    • Applications

    • Updates

    • Installation Status

    • Innovation IDS Form

    • HappyFox Ticketing

    • Contact Us

 


Applications

  • All programs available to install

 


Updates

  • Lists updates that are available to your computer. 

  • If you do not install the updates, they will automatically install for you after a set period of time.

 


Innovation IDS Form

  • This form can be used to get in contact with the IDS team.

 


HappyFox Ticketing

  • Directs you to the ICCSD Technology and Innovation page. 

  • Here you can find support articles to help you with a problem, Submit a Ticket to the Help Desk if the articles don’t help, or read the Office of Technology and Innovation Blog.

  • There are several ways to get a hold of the Help Desk:

    • Support Ticket through HappyFox

    • Email

    • Phone

    • The blog

  • Chat with us by clicking on the Chat button in the bottom right corner of the page.
