Purpose: The purpose of this article is to show how to update Dell drivers to ensure compatibility with hardware.

Summary: Drivers enable your computer to communicate with hardware devices, such as printers, sound cards, video cards, network adapters, and more. When drivers are outdated, they can cause issues such as freezes, crashes, slowdowns, or device malfunctions.

Instructions:

  1. Navigate to the Dell Support Assist Website

    1. You may be prompted to install Support Assist.

    2. Allow this download. 

  2. Click the blue box Check for Updates.

  1. If SupportAssist finds driver updates for your machine, click Show Drivers to expand the dropdown menu.

  1. Uncheck the BIOS | Dell Latitude 7320/7420/7520 System BIOS driver update.

    1. This driver requires a Tech Department Administrator password.

You will probably have more driver update options than pictured.

  1. Select Download And Install.

    1. If you have updates other than the BIOS update, this button will not be grayed out.

  2. Once the updates are complete, restart your computer.
