Uploading a Document to Google Drive

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to show how to upload documents to Google Drive.


Uploading a Document

  1. When logged into your Google account, Google Drive can be accessed by clicking on the Google Apps icon and selecting Drive.

  1. Once you are in your Google Drive, click New on the left side.

  1. Select File Upload.

  1. Locate the file you wish to upload to your Google Drive and select Open.

    1. When the file has finished uploading, you will see a message in the lower right corner that says Upload complete

  1. The document should then appear in your Google Drive.

    1. Double-click on the document to open it. 

    2. If you wish to edit the document, click on Open with Google Docs

  • This will open a word processor that allows you to edit the document.

    • Any changes to the document will be saved automatically.

  • Instead of manually uploading a document to your Google Drive, files can also be dragged and dropped from your computer into your Google Drive.

    • Dragging a file directly into a folder will automatically place it in the folder.
