Interactive Projector Volume Control

Audience: Staff

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to show staff how to change the volume when using a projector.

Summary: The ceiling-mounted speaker (see below photo) is connected to both the wireless pendant microphone and the projector. Video or audio that is playing on your computer will come through the ceiling speaker if the computer is connected to the wireless display or to the redundant HDMI connections on the wall plate beside the whiteboard. HDMI carries video and audio.

Adjusting Speaker Volume

  • The projector volume can be adjusted in two ways:

    • Via your computer or via the projector itself.

  • Adjusting either volume will change the volume of the sound coming out of the speaker.

    • The projector volume will always override the computer volume, meaning that if the projector volume is at zero and your computer volume is at 50, no sound will come out of the speaker.

  • To adjust the volume on your computer:

    • Windows: Click the speaker icon in the lower right corner and set the slider to your desired volume. 

    • ChromeOS: Click on the status menu (bottom right corner, where the time is displayed). Then, set the volume slider to your desired volume.

      MacOS: Click on the Control Center icon (top right in the menu bar). Then, set the volume slider to your desired volume.

  • To adjust the volume on the projector, use the volume buttons on the projector remote. 

  • Also ensure that the volume in your application (Youtube, SWANK, etc.) is set adequately. Usually video players will have their own volume slider on the interface.

  • The speaker is also paired with the Cetacea microphone.

    • To adjust the voice amplification volume, press the volume buttons on the microphone itself.
