Clearing Cache and Cookies in Chrome

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to help Chromebook and Chrome users clear their cache and cookies which will help improve speed, fix website issues, and free up storage space.


Notes:

  • Clearing your cache and cookies is helpful when you're experiencing browser issues, login problems, or loading errors on websites.


Instructions:

  1. Open Google Chrome

  2. Access the Chrome Menu

    1. In the top-right corner of the Chrome browser, click the three vertical dots (⋮) to open the menu.

    2. From the dropdown, select Settings.

  3. Go to Privacy and Security

    1. In the left-hand navigation panel, click Privacy and security.

    2. Then click on Clear browsing data.

  4. Choose What to Clear

    1. You’ll see a pop-up titled Clear browsing data.

    2. Under the Basic tab:

      1. Time Range:

        1. Choose how far back you want to clear (e.g., Last hour, Last 24 hours, All time).

      2. Check the following boxes:

        1. Cookies and other site data

        2. Cached images and files

          1. You can also check Browsing history if you'd like to clear visited websites.

    3. Want More Control?

      1. Click on the Advanced tab for additional options like:

        1. Download history

        2. Passwords and other sign-in data

        3. Autofill form data

        4. Site settings

  5. Clear the Data

    1. After making your selections, click the blue Clear data button.

    2. Chrome will process and remove the selected content.
